About Highland Lakes Water District

Highland Lakes Water District (HLWD) is approximately five miles northwest of the intersection of US 24 and Teller County Rd 5 in Divide, Colorado. The District currently has 367 customer accounts and predicts, at build out, 450 accounts. All water usage is metered, and usage readings are taken monthly using a remote meter reading system. Highland Lakes Water District operates one treatment facility with a raw water collection system and a 110,000-gallon storage tank, fed by 23 wells. Raw water is treated with chlorine, polyphosphate and a nitrate anion exchange treatment process. Additionally, the District is in the process of developing a micro filtration system that meets the state's requirements for treating raw water under the influence of surface water. This project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025. Wells are monitored and managed using a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA). Your Role: We seek a self-directed, reliable person that will ensure the safe and compliant operation of the Highland Lakes water infrastructure to the best of their ability. This contractor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and performance of the water system to meet the requirements of CDPHE and under the direction of the HLWD Board of Directors. The District does not expect that the contractor will have a full-time presence in the District but should be available at all times for system emergencies or will delegate someone with at least equal certifications and competencies as backup.

What you will do includes but is not limited to: * The contractor shall order, load, unload, and regulate treatment chemicals and supplies. * The contractor shall collect water samples for various tests as required by CDPHE and deliver the samples to the District's selected testing laboratory to be reported promptly in accordance with the monitoring schedule. * The contractor shall perform troubleshooting of the treatment processes, equipment problems, and prepare equipment for repair work, as necessary. * The contractor shall assist in maintaining facilities, including cleaning and upkeep of buildings, equipment, and grounds. * The contractor shall inform the District of needed improvements to the collection, treatment and distribution systems. *

Requirements/Certifications: * Must hold a Class C Water Treatment Plant Operator certification. * Must hold a Class 2 Water Distribution System Operator certification.

Professional Competencies and Expectations: * Technical Proficiencies: expected to be skilled and proficient at troubleshooting, performing system analyses, and adjusting optimize water quality and service for HLWD's customers. * Individual should also excel in: Organization, Communication, Flexibility, Time Logging
